1. Pre-Enrollment at the University of Trieste - Foreign students needing a VISA and Living Abroad

2022/2023 Pre-Enrollment Procedure

Please remind that if you are a foreign student needing a VISA and living abroad, you MUST submit a pre-enrollment at the competent diplomatic/consular Missions of your country.

The fundamental step to get a VISA is to apply for pre-enrollment to the Italian Embassy/Consulate in your country, by mid July. Please book an appointment with the Italian Embassy in due advance, you may fail to pre-enroll for lack of free appointments.

You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible (preparing all documents and get an appointment takes time): it is sufficient to have applied for the selection procedure. In any case, it is mandatory to apply to pre-enrollment: we cannot accept your application if pre-enrollment deadline expired and you have not applied to the embassy (this is particularly the case for applications in the second selection phase)! Please refer to the Italian Embassy of your country for the pre-enrollment procedures.

The enrollment at the University of Trieste is to be done through the esse3 platform.

In case your degree was issued by a foreign country, you need to present at your enrollment a Statement of comparability and qualifications certification of your degree certificate, issued by CIMEA. CIMEA issues statements of comparability to UniTS candidates in 15 days only.

If you are an International student and do not have an Italian bank account yet, you might consider opening one, since it is necessary to have an Italian IBAN to receive reimbursements and scholarships from the University of Trieste. **7. Student Residence Permit (Permesso di Soggiorno)**

Student Residence Permit - How to Apply

Each time your Residence Permit is issued by the local Questura, please remind to present it at the University.

Before the renewal of your Residence Permit, please remind of requesting to the University of Trieste a University Enrollment Certification with Exams Taken, and bring with you a duty stamp (marca da bollo) of 16 euros. This document must be presented along with your documentation for the Renewal of Residence Permit.
